Committee On Political Education
The Committee On Political Education (COPE) meets every election cycle to interview candidates and discuss other issues on the ballot. The COPE interview process focuses on issues of importance to working people. All affiliated local unions are encouraged to participate in the COPE process. When the process is complete the COPE participants vote whether or not to endorse (recommend) a candidate based on interview answers and past voting record as it relates to labor issues. A similar evaluation process is conducted for ballot measures and other issues that may be on the ballot.
Even though most working people would find the COPE process a valuable tool is assisting them to make decisions at election time, we feel, for legal reasons, we must limit access to COPE endorsements on this web site to union members. We apologize for any inconvenience that may cause for working people who don't belong to a union.
